Safari Holiday Ideas

There are so many great safari destinations, that we can’t possibly show them all. A good starting point is to decide the kind of safari that you would like and the sorts of animals that you are keen to see. Below are some examples of safari holidays that we would suggest, however our itineraries are all fully customisable according to your preferences, budget and time frame.

For the Great Wildebeest Migration and open plains, East Africa has to be your destination, but if you want to see predators such as lion and leopard we recommend the Sabi Sand Reserve or the Kruger National Park.

Not to be overlooked are safaris in Namibia at the wonderful Etosha National Park, and the various parks throughout Botswana. Both of these offer a completely different kind of experience, and are great to combine with a more traditional kind of bushveld environment.

If you are travelling with children, we suggest South Africa where there are a number of malaria-free reserves such as Shamwari on the Garden Route or Madikwe and Welgevonden in the north. Both an easy drive from Johannesburg.

Timing is also a factor, so different destinations will be more suitable at certain times of year – we want to make sure you get the best possible chance to see wildlife in optimum conditions. In East Africa the migration is a popular spectacle but the animals are constantly moving in search of the new grass. Whilst it is not an exact science, it is possible to anticipate where the herds are likely to be at certain times of the year, either in the Serengeti in Tanzania or the Masai Mara in Kenya.
