Named after the intrepid explorer Dr David Livingstone, The Royal Livingstone Hotel will immerse you in the romance and style of a bygone era. With its unique Zambezi River frontage there’s no better place to enjoy the unrivaled views of the Victoria Falls. The hotel is one of our most popular choices for a holiday at Victoria Falls. In our opinion, a little too busy for a honeymoon stay but perfect for a family holiday or anyone starting or relaxing after a safari holiday in Zambia or nearby Botswana.
Every detail of this 5 star luxury hotel captures the opulence and elegance of times gone by. The pool deck reflects this classic ‘colonial’ style, and the River Terrace Bar on the banks of the mighty Zambezi provides the perfect location for sundowners drinks.
Rooms at the Royal Livingstone Hotel
Curved seductively along the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, the Royal Livingstone Hotel comprises 173 spacious en suite guest rooms, either with twin or king-size beds, and each with its own private verandah. The rooms stretch along the river bank in a series of private villas. Each room offers a quiet retreat, with large shaded verandahs and open spaces cooled by swirling fans and tall shutters. All of the rooms have air conditioning.
Dining
Enjoy leisurely breakfasts or ‘alfresco’ lunches on the River Terrace overlooking the rolling lawns and the mighty Zambezi River. Traditional High Tea is served daily in the lounge. As the day fades and the lengthening shadows bring cool relief, wander down to the sun deck to sip sundowners in the most romantic of settings.
In the evenings, dine in the hotel dining room where you will find a combination of old-world savoir-faire and contemporary sophistication. Special candle-lit dinners can be arranged under the star-studded skies for honeymooners and guests who are celebrating anniversaries and other special occasions.
Activities
The hotel offers a range of excursions and activities from a guided tour of the Falls to helicopter trips, sunset cruises or even a day trip on the Royal Livingstone Express. Travelling on the historic Mulobezi Railway line, guests enjoy fine dining and stunning scenery.
It is easy to reach Botswana from the Victoria Falls with the Chobe National Park just a short transfer away. Full day safari trips are possible.
The government have announced a new combination Zambia and Zimbabwe Visa, meaning that you can now cross between the two countries without needing a re entry visa. It also covers Botswana. (Current Status: June 2016 – the dual visa has been suspended temporarily but we expect it to resume.)
