Kingfisher Lodge

Kingfisher Lodge is situated on the banks of Lake Entabeni on the upper escarpment of the 22 0000 hectare Entabeni Safari Conservancy. Entabeni is located in the malaria-free Waterberg region of Limpopo Province, north of Johannesburg. Kingfisher Lodge is one of a number on this reserve where it is easy to combine a safari with a golfing holiday in South Africa.

Rooms at Kingfisher Lodge
This exclusive, tranquil lodge comprises of 10 luxury 5 star en suite thatched rooms, including one Honeymoon Suite. All the bedrooms have private sun decks with spectacular mountain views and lounge areas with romantic fireplaces. The main lodge opens out onto a large lake side deck where meals are served. There is a large lounge and bar area and a small but welcome swimming pool where al fresco meals can be enjoyed as well.

Game Viewing
As Kingfisher Lodge is located on the upper escarpment, most game drives take place in this area, which is home to a large number of plains animals and some rarer species such as the brown hyena. Lions and elephant reside on the larger, lower escarpment which is reached via the connecting ravine road. This spectacular pass through craggy rock formations, takes about half an hour to traverse down the 600m to the lower bushveld escaprment. (This is also where the golf course is located.) All guests will have a chance to enjoy a game drive on the lower escarpment as well.

Kingfisher Lodge offers boat trips on the lake where small game can be spotted taking a drink. During the hot summer, guest can enjoy a dip in one of the rock pools that have formed in the mountain stream on the ravine road. A small bar area has been built overlooking the largest pool where picnics and barbeques are arranged for guests in between game viewing activities.

Kingfisher Lodge is also connected by a safe walkway to the larger Lakeside 4* Lodge where Kingfisher guests can enjoy the lively bar and amenities if they wish.

On the lower escarpment next to the game reserve is the Legend Golf Resort, which offers a unique opportunity to combine safari with a golf holiday in South Africa. It is possible to stay at the golf resort or stay on the safari reserve but still play golf in between game viewing activities. The Legend Signature Course is an 18 hole championship course where each hole has been designed by a PGA Tour professional such as KJ Choi, Bernhard Langer and Justin Rose. There is also a 10 hole par 3 Tribute Course, where each hole is a replica of a famous par 3 from golf courses around the world such as Sawgrass, St Andrews and Augusta.
