Le Quartier Français

An ideal base from which to explore the surrounding winelands, Le Quartier Francais is a country retreat located in Franschhoek in the heart of the Cape Winelands. The retreat first became known for its restaurant of the same name, after which the auberge accommodation was added. Le Quartier’s buildings were originally labourers’ cottages, which have since been restored but still maintain their original Provencal façades. The cottages surround pristine landscaped gardens and a large, natural pool – perfect for relaxing whilst appreciating the mountain and wineland setting.

The 15 Auberge and Grande rooms all feature balconies opening onto the landscaped gardens with its sparkling swimming pool. The Garden Suites overlook their own private garden area and feature luxurious bathrooms with his ‘n her vanities.The  Four Quarters Suites are set in their own private courtyard and are perfect for small groups or families. All rooms and suites are newly refurbished with modern fittings, refreshing colours and brilliant hand painted fabrics. Authentic Egyptian cotton lines the large beds, and spacious en suite bathrooms contain a separate walk-in shower and bath.

Dining
Le Quartier offers all day dining in either the Garden Room at Le Quartier or the Conservatory restaurant at nearby Leeu House. There is a large bar where light meals are available throughout the day. This is a great place to go to relax, and be assured of good food, wonderful local wines and warm friendly service. You can sit inside, or on the terrace outside and watch the world go by!

Franschhoek has so much to offer, from wine tasting tours to artisan foods such as cheese, chocolate and olives as well as hiking, horse riding and golf. Pearl Valley, Paarl and De Zalze are just some of the courses that can be reached easily from Franschhoek.
