Hog Hollow Country Lodge

Hog Hollow is a 4-star lodge in one of the most beautiful parts of Africa – the Garden Route. The lodge is set on the edge of a forest in a private nature reserve with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. It is a firm favourite of our staff, and we have clients that request Hog Hollow every time they return for a holiday in South Africa. It is a great place to break a trip along the Garden Route between Knysna and Port Elizabeth or before a safari in the Eastern Cape.

The 15 suites all have private decks overlooking the forest vistas and offer guests relaxed luxury in an unforgettable and tranquil setting.

The Main House encompasses the communal dining area and is surrounded by a long blue swimming pool that visually flows into the valley below and a fire pit where nightly fires are lit. Other attractions include a forest sauna and privately-sited forest shower with incredible views over the valley.

Expect outstanding cuisine, a relaxed atmosphere and truly memorable hospitality from the staff. For the adventurous, the lodge is the perfect base from which to explore and experience numerous adventure activities in the area such as canoeing, whale watching, bungee jumping and zip lining. The lodge staff are renowned for their personalised service and will assist you with the planning and booking of daily excursions and activities.

The lodge has it’s own stables and offer 1,2 and 3 hour rides through the forest and surrounding valleys. All abilities and children are catered for.

Hog Hollow welcomes children. They will organise babysitting, special turn downs with a glass of fresh milk and a Gingerbread Man, children’s stories and CDs, buckets and spades, boogie boards and cater for special menus and meal times.

Rooms at Hog Hollow
The 15 suites all have private decks overlooking the forest that offer guests relaxed luxury in an unforgettable setting. King size beds, earthy tones, fireplaces, hammocks and hand-crafted artefacts are just a few of the comfortable touches that welcome guests to their private retreat.

Each night there is a special turn down and on chilly winter nights, they slip a hot water bottle between the sheets just in case the cosy fireplace isn’t enough. Rooms are fitted with mini bars and mini hi-fi systems but no TVs or telephones.

The Villa
Hog Hollow have an additional 3 bedroom private villa also located on the same private reserve. The villa has a private pool, lounge and 3 en suite rooms and can be hired as a unit.

Dining
Hog Hollow is well known for its delectable food. On crisp clear mornings, farmhouse breakfasts are served on the wooden deck overlooking the forest or near the huge fireplace when it’s cooler. In the evenings, guests enjoy scrumptious dinners around the communal table in the candle-lit atmosphere of the main house.

Meals are prepared using only the freshest of local produce. The set menu includes a selection of main course of which fish, prawns and crayfish are daily features.

The kitchen can prepare a picnic basket of delectable goodies which you can take into the forest for your lunch.

Guests with specific dietary requirements are catered for individually. Children are catered for with special mealtimes and menus.

For our clients on South Africa golf holidays, Hog Hollow is conveniently located to play the nearby Plettenberg Bay course as well as Goose Valley. The courses at Knysna, such as Pezula and Simola are about 30 minutes drive.
