South Africa Golf Holidays - Plettenberg Bay Golf Club

Plettenberg Bay Country Club has an 18 hole parklands golf course set in a private nature reserve on the outskirts of Plettenberg Bay. The course has been upgraded with superb new greens that were built to USGA specifications, making the course even more of a test for golfers. Their shapes and slopes, along with the new bunkers and water features have created a challenging but beautiful course, set in this stunning nature reserve area.

The highly rated course is a very popular with golfers staying on the Garden Route. The course is easy to walk, with lush Kikuyu grass fairways and Bay View greens recently over seeded to Bent grass.  Golfers can enjoy the excellent playing surface on this park-like golf course.

The par-four, 5th hole is the hardest on the course and is the most likely to be affected by the wind. The prevailing westerly tends to keep drives well short of the bisecting river. In a following wind the decision to drive over the river should only be taken by the brave and confident big hitters. Lesser mortals should play safe and hit a wood followed by a low iron into a large, interesting green guarded by bunkers on the left.

There is plenty of water on the course, with small brooks bisecting fairways and a river that flanks a number of the holes.

This is no 'little seaside golf course', all greens and bunkers are to USGA specifications and despite intense competition from the beautiful white beaches nearby, the club is busy and booking is essential.

The Plettenberg Bay course has no intrusive houses or traffic noise and is populated mainly with indigenous flora and fauna, making a rare and tranquil environment.
